Epsom salt

Use of epsom salt – the best stress reliever

Wellness/Health

If you have exercised and don’t want to be sore the next day Epsom salt bath is the way to go. I once walked 30,000 steps. I was afraid the next day my body would hurt since I usually walk very few steps in a day.

So I took precautions and had an Epsom salt bath to end my day. The next day I did not feel any soreness.

Working from home was causing my body to hurt when I didn’t have the right chair so to fix that I took Epsom salt baths. Boy, were they amazing for my shoulders, neck and back.

Benefits

The magnesium in Epsom salt is the reason it works as such a good muscle relaxant. During epsom baths serotonin is released from your body which causes your mood to improve. Your stress levels are decreased. When we are stressed the magnesium in our body goes down and having an this bath will help bring it back up.

Directions to make the bath

Buy the Epsom salt from a grocery store or a drugstore. There is no need for fancy Dr Teals Lavender Epsom salt. You can add essential oils to your bath if you like.

I would recommend putting 2 cups of Epsom salt in warm water and staying in the bath for 15-30 minutes to have the best effect. Staying more than 30 minutes or using very hot water can make the bath dehydrating.

Put the salt from the beginning so by the time the bath is full it can be dissolved.

I suggest hydrating before having the bath as again it is dehydrating.

Shower

If you aren’t a bath person I’d first go tell you to see my blog on baths just to see how you can switch it up and improve your bath. But if you don’t have a bathtub don’t worry you can have an salt shower.

Now it won’t be as impactful. But you can take some oil and 2 tablespoons of Epsom salt and mix it in the oil of your choice. Then use it to shower as a scrub. It helps a little bit so I only use it as a last resort if I don’t have access to a bathtub.

Disclaimer: If you do have sensitive skin or are pregnant please discuss with your doctor before taking this bath.
