Whatsapp, Instagram and Facebook Major Outage

Did you try sending a Whatsapp and it didn’t go? Tried to reload a story on Instagram and weren’t able to? Then out of boredom did you hit Facebook up and still weren’t able to do anything. So you tried restarting your internet and still weren’t able to? So you hit up good old google to find out what was happening! Well, you aren’t alone. Whatsapp, Facebook and Instagram users since Monday October 4th 11:40 am EST have been experiencing problems.

It must be soothing to know that your friends haven’t forgotten you. I was left wondering for 20 minutes why the reels were showing up the same. At one point I thought maybe I have watched all the uploaded reels there are.

By noon on Monday 20,000 outages were reported for Facebook. Instagram logged around 15,000 reports and Whatsapp has more than 7000 reports.

Facebook owns Whatsapp and Instagram and has more than billions of users around the world.

Facebook, Whatsapp, and Instagram took on Twitter to let their concerned users know about the outage.

What’s going on?

The outage comes the morning after “60 minutes” ran a segment on the Facebook whistleblower. By noon on Monday shares of Facebook were down by 5 percent. This is Facebook’s worst day trading in a year. Might be a good time to buy those shares.

At this time the reason for the outage is unknown. Stand still it might be up soon. For the time being, I guess we should all use Twitter to keep ourselves entertained. Ironic isn’t it that Facebook had to use Twitter to announce its outage?

Brian Kerbs Tweets ” The DNS records that tell systems how to find Facebook.com or Instagram.com got withdrawn this morning from the global routing tables. Can you imagine working at FB right now, when your email no longer works & all your internal FB-based tools fail?”

I am unsure what I should be doing with my hands now that I can’t be looking at Instagram reels. Next to me, my dad is snoring because he has no one to forward Whatsapp to. Who knew an outage for such a short time can leave us questioning how addicted we are to social media.

It has been 3 hours and counting. Yes, I am counting (need to do something with my time)
