Being constipated can be really annoying. You feel uncomfortable in your stomach and that can cause problems in other parts of your body such as giving you a headache. Being constipated means going to the washroom and not being able to poop or it being hard for you to poop. We have all been there and it is a struggle. So let us make your lives a little easier by discussing how to stop being constipated
Remedies to stop being constipated
Your diet and the impact on constipation
What you eat leads to what you take out. If your diet is full of protein and carbs it can be harder to poop. What you need is carbs, proteins fat, and most importantly fiber for a healthy diet. Fiber increases the size of your poop and softens it. When your poop is hard you have to put a lot of pressure to take it out. But adding fiber to your diet makes that process easier.
What foods to add to your diet to increase the fiber in your body?
Foods that are mostly meat, dairy, or sugar contain zero to little fiber. If you want to increase fiber in your diets have wholegrain food this can be in brown bread, brown rice, and cereals. Cereals that are heavy on wheat such as Wheatabix can help you in this regard. Vegetables are also a great way to increase the amount of fiber in your diet. This includes broccoli, kale, carrots, spinach, okra, asparagus, sweet corn, cauliflower, and eggplant.
This list goes on but you get the point most vegetables are heavy on fiber and adding vegetables to your diet can decrease constipation. This doesn’t mean you have to have only salad for lunch. You can have protein but add a side dish of vegetables. Making one vegetable at a time is good as well. My favourite thing to do is fry broccoli or asparagus in a little bit of oil and adding pepper and salt to it.
Now adding vegetables doesn’t mean you eat vegetables one day and your poop is great the next. Give in a few days or weeks to change the way your pooping system works.

For more immediate (but still would have to wait a day) have prune juice. I tried having prunes themselves they did not help me but prune juice is supposed to be amazing.
Metamucil or pure fiber
I also have Metamucil to increase the fiber in my body. The important thing to remember while increasing fiber is that you also have to increase the amount of water in your body. Because fiber absorbs water if you don’t have a sufficient amount in your body it might end up giving you gas instead of making you poop
Increase your water intake
Water helps flush everything out and is needed for your organs to function smoothly. So adding water will increase the amount you poop.
Having hot water in the morning or before sleeping can make your digestion better as well.
Other methods on how to stop being constipated?
Have you ever seen the olden style washrooms that you can find in places like India or Pakistan? They are on the ground and you have to squat. There is a reason the washroom is like that. Squatting actually makes it easier for you to poop. Now I am not telling you to use those washrooms. But squatting before going to the washroom can be helpful if you think your poop doesn’t come out smoothly. Just doing a few squats before pooping can change the way you poop.
What could be causing constipation apart from your diet?
If your diet is completely fine and you still have constipation it might be the stress or other problems in your life. You can internalize stress which leads to constipation.
Another thing to note is being constipated sometimes is okay but if you think you have constipation frequently or all the time it might be time to talk to your doctor and see what they say. Constipation is a way of your body signaling something is wrong and you need to change something. It is important to know the root problem of the cause to solve the issue.

Don’t look for quick remedies and add fiber to your diet slowly. Adding fiber to fast can cause bloating and glass. Wait for time to see results. Don’t give up if your poops don’t increase in days. Your body needs time to get used to the new diets.
There will be other benefits to the change in your diet. Your body will thank you for the changes you have made.
